Basic: the legal minimum, done properly

Compulsory third party liability, towing at sea, wreck removal and legal expenses. What Spanish law requires to go out on the water, plus what you really need if your engine dies off the coast.

Plus: cover for everyone on board

Everything in Basic, plus personal accident cover for the people on board. Made for owners who go out with family or friends and want any mishap on deck to be covered.

Comprehensive: your boat, protected

Damage to your own hull, engine, fittings and sails from fire, collision or theft; total loss, partial damage and personal belongings. It includes impacts with floating objects and orca attacks.

Higher liability limits

Compulsory liability comes with legal minimums. If you sail near bathing areas or busy marinas, raising the limit is worth considering: we show you what it means in your case before you decide.

Foreign-flagged boats welcome

British, Irish, Dutch or any other flag: a foreign boat sailing in Spanish waters has the same insurance obligation as a Spanish one. Motorboats, sailboats, RIBs and jet skis, arranged here in English.

What people ask us about boat insurance

Yes. Foreign boats sailing in Spanish territorial waters must have the same compulsory liability cover as Spanish ones, or prove they hold equivalent insurance. We can arrange it here, in English, with your boat papers and your ID.
Yes for any boat with an engine, whatever its power, and for jet skis. Boats without an engine need it when they are over six metres long. What is compulsory is third party liability; cover for your own boat is optional.
Damage you cause to other people, other boats or third party property. The Spanish regulation sets minimums of €120,202 per victim, with €240,404 per incident, for injury, and €96,161 for property damage. It does not cover your own boat: that is what comprehensive cover is for.
Yes: the certificate of compulsory insurance must be kept on the boat. If you are asked for it and do not have it, you have five working days to prove the cover, but it is easier to avoid the hassle. We give it to you on paper and digitally.
Yes. You can pay once a year or in monthly instalments. Your quote shows both so you can decide.
If anyone is at risk, call Maritime Rescue first: 112 or VHF channel 16. Otherwise, call the assistance number on your policy for a tow. Then message us on WhatsApp and we take care of the rest of the claim.
It depends on the type of boat, length, engine, value, sailing area and level of cover, so there is no single price. Send us the details on WhatsApp or drop into the office and we give you the real figure for your case. If you charter the boat out, tell us: that needs a different policy.
