What life insurance covers

Death is only the first one.
The ones that follow are used while you are alive.

Death

An immediate lump sum for the beneficiaries you name, from any cause, with an additional amount if it is accidental. It is what keeps the house, the schooling and the standard of living going when a salary disappears.

Total and permanent disability

If illness or an accident stops you working for good, the lump sum is paid to you. Statistically it is more likely than death before 65, and it is the cover people most often forget.

Critical illness

An advance on the sum insured when cancer, a heart attack, a stroke or another serious condition defined in the policy is diagnosed, so you can face treatment, sick leave or changes without waiting for anything else.

Mortgage life cover

The sum insured covers the outstanding loan and can decrease with it, with a single-premium option. By law the bank has to accept an equivalent policy from another company: we give you the certificate to hand in.

Full or reduced-premium cover

One version is fully customisable; another has a fixed, lower premium, aimed at younger people or at covering one specific loan. We show you both with your age and your figure.

Long-term care and severe disability

Cover that tops up state support if you ever need help with day-to-day life. The earlier it is arranged the better: age drives the premium.

It depends on your age, on the sum insured and on the cover you add. With your date of birth and a rough figure we will give you the exact premium in under 24 hours, over WhatsApp or at the office.
A common reference is to cover outstanding debts plus several years of income. But it depends on your mortgage, on who depends on you and on what you want settled. We work it out with you at the office, with your own figures.
No. It can require that a policy exists, but Spanish mortgage credit law obliges the bank to accept an equivalent policy from another company without worsening the terms of the loan. We give you the Mapfre certificate to hand in.
In most cases no: you fill in a health questionnaire when taking out the policy. For very high sums insured or certain ages Mapfre may ask for tests, and we tell you before we start.
The beneficiaries you name in the policy, split as you decide. When the time comes, your family come to the office, we gather the documents and process the payment with Mapfre. They do not have to do it alone.
